What is a forening in Norway—and why the General Assembly matters
AINCLUSION is registered in Norway as a forening, which means a non‑profit, member‑based association created by a group of people who share a common purpose. A forening is owned by its members, not by a company or an individual. Members shape the direction of the organization, elect the board, and have the right to influence key decisions.
The General Assembly (årsmøte) is the highest decision‑making body in any Norwegian association. It is where members:
- approve the annual report and financial statement,
- discuss and vote on important matters,
- elect the board,
- review and confirm the bylaws (vedtekter),
- suggest new initiatives or changes for the coming year.
In short: the General Assembly is where members’ voices truly matter and where the future of the association is shaped.
